Guest Toilet Refurb - Nodding To The Art Deco Style

Sweet (art Deco) Dreams

Our second project with our client was to refit their dated downstairs guest toilet.
The house, although is post war, lends itself to the Art Deco period and the owners are in the process of modernising the property while adding in Art Deco features and flavours.
Mixed into that brief is that the owners wanted to create hotel chic look by adding in some wow features.
In the planning stages, we spoke and planned for a herringbone tiling pattern. One of the main challenges of such a tiling pattern is the ensuring all the tiles are at 45' and each peak is in perfect alignment with the one below. This challenge becomes even more complexed if the walls have any imperfections in the vertical assent and if the corners are not near 90' - this project had all these factors which made it particularly tedious, but the results speak for themselves.
The Toilet cubicle was extremely small - only measuring 80cm x 1m 30cm. We hoped to source a Luxury high end Art Deco Toilet (we had sourced one from Leroy Brooks), but both size and budget meant for the moment we needed compromise on the design a little. We sourced a great looking unit from Victoria Plumbing that not only fitted, but was sympathetic on cost without compromising the design.
