Using Reclaimed Materials
The 2nd project is building a highly bespoke seating area. The area upon which the seating area was earmarked is overlooked by the next door neighbours so the client wanted to ensure that the seating area was screened / made private as possible.
The base was made with extremely thick wooden palettes which were raised off the ground using cemented brick posts. The floor of the palettes were then cladded with reclaimed pine timbers to give a uniformed grooved tread board.
At offset opposite sides two decorative palettes were used to form the side walls but also create a back rest for the bespoke benches which were made.
Along side the creation of the benches we created a bespoke off centre 6 seater table area that reflected the design of the two benches.
The next step was to create a canopy / flat roof using a combination of reclaimed timber joists and palettes. The edges of the canopy was finished with palettes slats.
The flat roof was lined with a 450 micro pond liner. For drainage, a bespoke guttering system was built to collect the water directly into 3 water butts. The butts are connected to another 2 butts in another part of the garden which are all connected to and automatic self filling mechanism within the pond filtration system. To add to the green credentials, the flat roof had a thin layer of compost added and now has a water hardly succulents which occupy the space.
