Compact Living
This mid terraced house provided and interesting project. Having only been built in the late 90's the property was compact to say the least. Added to this was the poor use of space throughout the property meaning there was a lot of dead space and voids that were not utilised.
The particular challenge with the bathroom was that the two property owners wanted different things from it. One liked long hot baths, the other a shower. Both of them had a keen eye for design and layout along with attention to detail.
After a lot of planning the solution was to slightly re-landscape the bathroom and the facilities so that a 3.0 bar pump could be used to pressurise both the shower and bath.
As space was tight, the pump was housed underneath the bath and fed a specialise 3 way mixer for the bath / hand held shower and overhead shower. As the clients did not want to have taps, we sourced a specialist tap that doubled up as the overflow to the bath meaning there were no taps needed.
The wall hung toilet and matching sink added to complete the overall look; but it was the tiling that took the most planning, time and attention.
The clients were very particular how they wanted the end result to look. In summary they wanted all the grout lines on the walls and floor to line up and for the wall hung toilet to be dead centre of a grout line or tile.
While the physical room was only 1m 50cm x 2m 50cm which had a dorma window; the time was mainly spent on tiling and ensure everything lined up correctly.
In addition to this a bespoke cut smoked mirror was installed opposite the bath along with IP65 Electrical down lighter spots to elevate the luxury nature of the project.
